💣 Natural Killer (NK) Cells – The Ninjas

When your body needs a quick strike against hidden enemies, Natural Killer (NK) Cells step in like silent ninjas. 🥷

⚡ Origin

  • NK cells are born in the bone marrow (like most immune cells).

  • They mature and train in the lymph nodes, spleen, and tonsils, ready for combat.

🎯 Role – What Makes Them Ninjas?

  • Stealth detectors: They can recognize and target virus-infected cells without needing special instructions.

  • Cancer assassins: NK cells identify and eliminate tumor cells before they spread.

  • Toxic strike: They release special granules filled with perforin and granzymes that punch holes in enemy cells and make them self-destruct.

🔑 Why They’re Important

NK cells act as your first line of defense against infections and cancer. Without them, many hidden threats would go unnoticed until it’s too late.

Mnemonic for NK Cells: "Ninja Killers"

  • NNinja stealth → They act quickly without prior instructions.

  • KKills cancer & virus-infected cells.

  • CCytotoxic strike → They release perforin & granzymes.

  • SSurveillance → Constantly patrolling the body for abnormal cells.

💡 Memory Trick:
